Yes, the weather is getting cooler and the days are shorter, but Brisbane still has it pretty good and with so much to do this month you will be spoilt for choice.
First of all…Brisbane will be hosting State or Origin Game 2. After winning game 1 this game is sure to be a good one! Game 2 will be held at Suncorp Stadium on June 22nd. Just a 15 minute walk from the Mercure hotel means you can skip the public transport and expensive taxi’s and save your money for the hot chips at the game!
If you are looking for something more spine tingling…instead get your tickets to Little Shop of Horrors at QPAC. From 1st - 12th June sit back and be amazed the musical created by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. The musical, Little Shop of Horrors became a cult classic all over the world winning the Drama Critics Award, Drama Desk Award and Evening Standard Award all for Best Musical. If musicals aren't your thing check out Cindy Sherman's exhibition at QAGOMA. Cindy Sherman is renowned for her inspiring array of character studies created over decades. Since the early days of her career in the 1970s her work has been credited as a major influence for several contemporary photographers. From May 28 to October 3, QAGOMA will be exhibiting a series of Cindy Sherman’s work in two parts – the first is work made in conjunction with fashion houses Balenciaga and Chanel and a new body of work that will be shown for the first time outside of New York.
Looking for more art and culture? Brisbane International Jazz Festival is on from Friday June 3rd ‐ Saturday June 11th 2016. The festival will feature the best international and Australian jazz artists, including Mulatu Astatke, the first African to graduate from the Berklee College of Music. Joining him will be Marcus Strickland, BLOW, Jackal, The Vampires, Trichotomy, Double bill, Catherine Lambert and many more.
